What
I gained insight into how the learning platform is structured and which support services are available (such as student assistance and administrative help). I also learned the fundamental principles of writing academically in English, including the correct use of Harvard referencing. Additionally, I was introduced to the structure of essays through articles that explained how to formulate them properly and how to handle references.
So what
This introduction highlighted that academic writing and proper referencing are foundational skills for the entire master's program, regardless of the specific subject matter. It also showed that adapting to different academic cultures is important and that these principles ultimately support clarity and quality in research.
What next
I will continue to develop my academic writing style so that it becomes more natural and efficient in future modules. I’ll also keep these articles as a handy reference whenever I need a refresher on formulation or referencing.
Gibbs' Reflective Cycle
Description
I can now navigate the platform more efficiently and find support when needed. The experience of writing in academic English and using Harvard references is something I can apply to future essays and reports. The articles on essay structure serve as a reference I can revisit whenever I need guidance.
Feelings
The essay assignment was challenging, especially because it required adapting to academic English and being meticulous with referencing. The emphasis on referencing everything was new to me, as it differs from common practices in Denmark or the US. However, once I practised it, it made sense and was not as difficult as it first seemed.
Evaluation
I found it helpful to read the recommended articles on essay structure and academic style. Having these resources on hand made it easier to get started, and I quickly found it becoming a natural part of my writing process.

Initial Post (Assignment): The Impact of Computing and Cybersecurity in the Financial Industry (Aug 1, 2025)
Feedback: You gave a strong historical and regulatory perspective on cybersecurity in the financial sector. Including examples like the Morris Worm and Bangladesh Bank heist helped contextualize the shift in policies. You also raised important points about the limitations of current frameworks with regard to AI/ML threats. To push this further, more critical reflection on how financial institutions can practically adapt to emerging risks would be useful.
